| About Prevent Child Abuse New York |
In 1993, Prevent Child Abuse New York spearheaded the establishment of the Healthy Families New York (HFNY) program. We continue to work to assure the program becomes available to families throughout the state. Healthy Families New York is a comprehensive, voluntary home visiting service that supports healthy child development and parenting practices, and prevents child abuse, from the prenatal period until a child is 3 to 5 years old. The HFNY Home Visiting Program now includes 28 HFNY sites in communities all across New York, whose work is coordinated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. Prevent Child Abuse New York’s HFNY Training and Resource Center provides staff training, quality assurance assistance and resources for all HFNY sites in the state. We work with the HFNY Home Visiting Council to plan more stable, diversified and expansive funding for HFNY, to enable growth of the program to all eligible parents in the state.
